Hi I’m Sophie Galley

Welcome to my Portfolios and Blog.

My Story

Scotland-born and Bay Area-raised, I am a hardworking, dedicated young woman hoping to one day work with a team to tell a story that will make an impact on the world. When people meet me, they could call me many things: a recent Sonoma State University grad with a B.A. in English and a minor in Theatre Arts; a fan of the media and entertainment industry who is very passionate about storytelling; or a woman who is trying to make her break into the professional world. All are true. My skills have flourished during my time at Sonoma State but also while in high school as the Editor-in-Chief of the Journalism department's television show; over many years of being a guide for many friends for their fiction writing; and currently as a freelance formatter and video editor for C. Melita Webb's books and Youtube channel respectively. I also do some freelance video editing and production assistant work with Flip2Media.

Whether you need someone for a short-term project, or a long-term collaboration, I’d love to hear from you. You’re invited to explore my portfolios and blog and contact me so we can discuss how we can create something great together.

Education

My Schooling

August 2017 - December 2020

English Bachelor of Arts Degree with a Single Subject Preparation Concentration, Sonoma State University

During my time at Sonoma State, I strove to achieve the best grades I could every semester. Not only did I work on my English degree but I also worked towards my minor in Theatre Arts. As I did so, I would also attend events at Alpha Lambda Delta's Honor Society and then later, run those events while also operating the society's Instagram and Facebook accounts. In my junior year alone, I kept up my grades, performed my job as Social Media Chair for Alpha Lambda Delta, and worked at the Green Music Center all while rehearsing for the musical Candide. Despite all this, I made sure to keep my grades going strong and by the time I graduated, I obtained a Summa Cum Laude and distinction from my department.

August 2013-June 2017

High School Graduate Degree, Amador Valley High School

As a student at Amador Valley High, I focused on achieving the highest grades I could. While this was my main goal, I also made sure to intertwine this with extracurricular activities such as Theatre, Video Production, and Journalism. This helped me learn work ethic and teamwork. In Theatre, not only did I perform in Beauty in the Beast (2017) but I also assistant directed for the Fall play You Can't Take it With You (2017). At the same time, I was the Editor-in-Chief of Amador Valley Journalism's news program, AVTV on their Youtube Channel Amador Valley Today. Video Production aided me in honing my skills for my position in the Journalism class.
